Seton Hall Students Prepare to Explore Medicine Through Global Experience
Tuesday, March 31, 2026
The Pre-Professional Advising Center (P-PAC) at Seton Hall University serves as the centralized hub for students pursuing
careers in the health professions, providing them with the advising, resources and
experiences needed to become strong med school applicants and future leaders in medicine.
As part of this commitment, P-PAC continues to expand access to high-impact experiential
learning opportunities that support students’ academic, professional and personal
growth.
One of these opportunities is the P-PAC Global Health Experience in Zagreb, Croatia, taking place from Saturday, June 13 through Friday, June 26, 2026. This immersive two-week program offers students interested in medicine the chance to gain meaningful clinical exposure while exploring healthcare in an international setting.
During the program, selected students will observe physicians in hospital environments,
explore a range of medical specialties and gain firsthand insight into how healthcare
is delivered across different systems and cultures. Experiences like this allow pre-med
students to move beyond the classroom, strengthening their cultural awareness, adaptability,
professionalism and understanding of patient care which all are essential qualities
for future physicians.
At P-PAC, we are committed to creating experiential learning opportunities that help students strengthen their medical school applications, develop key AAMC competencies and gain meaningful exposure that supports their journey toward a career in medicine. This opportunity is intended for students who plan to apply to medical school for the AY 2027 or AY 2028 start dates.
A central focus of P-PAC and this program is ensuring access. Recognizing that global experiences can often be limited by cost, P-PAC has worked to eliminate financial barriers by fully covering program expenses, including airfare and housing. Selected students will only be responsible for a $500 non-refundable program deposit, ensuring that this opportunity is accessible to qualified students regardless of financial background.
Due to the immersive and professional nature of the experience, participation is limited
to eight students. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and all students who submit
an application by April 9 will receive equal consideration. Applications will be reviewed
holistically, with selection based on academic performance, professionalism, demonstrated
engagement within the Seton Hall P-PAC pre-med community and a clear commitment to
the path toward medicine. Students selected to move forward will also participate
in an interview process.
Students interested in learning more were encouraged to attend the informational session held at 3 p.m., March 26, hosted by P-PAC Director Chantal Vergara. The session saw an excellent turnout, reflecting strong student interest in this opportunity.
The P-PAC pre-health team is excited to support students taking advantage of this experience and will review all applications holistically. Additional questions may be addressed during a P-PAC advising appointment or at weekly Community Drop-In Hours.
