Christine Lhowe, M.F.A.

Associate Professor of Art & Design
Department of Communication Media and the Arts

Christine Lhowe is a visual designer whose scholarship focuses on the intersection of design and care. She investigates the designer's role in creating connections between people, society, and their environments to provide access and improve quality of life.

Christine's research informs her creative work. She is an internationally awarded designer focusing on design for social innovation, brand development, user experience and interface design, and information design — most often designing for underserved and marginalized communities. With an emphasis on accessibility and inclusion, she explores participatory design methods that involve users co-creating with her in her process.

Christine teaches in the Art, Design and Interactive Multimedia program, primarily in the Design & Advertising Concentration and the User Experience & Interface Design Certificate. She brings her creative expertise and research into the classroom where she teaches students to be authentic designers that use creativity as a catalyst for change.
