Sooji Kim, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Higher Education
Department of Education Leadership Management and Policy

Sooji Kim is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Education Leadership, Management and Policy at Seton Hall University. Her research sheds light on organizational management, behavior, and change within higher education by examining the design and impact of institutional policies and practices. Currently focusing on enrollment management, she explores how institutions develop systems of financial aid and admissions policies and practices to secure resources, their differential impacts on socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and the organizational elements contributing to various aspects of policy and program design.

In 2023, her research on the federal work-study program was honored with the Jean Flanigan Outstanding Dissertation Award at the annual meeting of the Association for Education Finance and Policy (AEFP). Her other work on college admissions has been published in academic journals and cited in an Amicus Curiae brief in Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. Harvard College. At Seton Hall, she currently teaches graduate courses on statistical methods and data analysis.

Prior to joining Seton Hall, Kim served as a strategic research fellow in the Division of Strategy and Policy at the University of North Carolina System Office, where her research informed and supported the decisions of senior leadership and system-wide policy. During her time at the University of Michigan, she contributed to various administrative units through research, including the Rackham Institutional Research Office.
