Dual certified pediatric and psychiatric nurse practitioner with 30 years experience treating children and families.

Kate Tarpey Balsamo, PMHNP-BC, CPNP-PC, is an experienced Pediatric and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years in the nursing field. With dual board certifications in Pediatric Primary Care (CPNP-PC) and Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP-BC).

In addition to her extensive clinical experience, Kate has been active in teaching future nurse practitioners in their clinical education, most recently serving as the Clinical Placement Coordinator at Seton Hall University in the College of Nursing. Her tenure as an educator also includes being an adjunct clinical faculty and precepting dozens of future nurse practitioners. During her time as a preceptor and adjunct she focused on sharing her expertise in pediatric and psychiatric nursing.

Kate holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from Stonybrook University and a post-master’s certificate in Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner from Seton Hall University. She also holds BA in Psychology from Fordham University and a BSN from Columbia.  She is member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She is currently the Program Director for the PMHNP program and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Graduate Nursing Department.
