I am a professor who is passionate about helping students succeed.

 Cynthia-Lee Williams is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Seton Hall University. Dr. Williams has earned a M.Phil. and a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from CUNY, the Graduate Center/John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She has also earned a M.A. in Criminology from St. John’s University and a B.A. in Art History at Ithaca College. Her areas of interest include the following: policing in urban communities; reentry; police oversight agencies; the intersection between race, urban crime, and substandard living; and applied statistics. Dr. Williams has published several articles that cover policing in urban communities and jail violence. Prior to enrolling in the doctoral program at CUNY, the Graduate Center, Dr. Williams worked as an investigator for the city government in the following three agencies: New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board; New York City Comptroller’s Office, Bureau of Labor Law; and New York City Department of Education, Office of Special Investigations. She also held tenure track faculty positions at Dominican University and William Paterson University. Prior to joining Seton Hall University, Dr. Williams worked in industry carrying out research for a marketing firm and an insurance company.
