R.A.D. Training Sessions
The R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) course is a self defense program designed to empower women by educating them about risk awareness, risk recognition, risk avoidance and risk reduction.
The R.A.D. Systems is the national standard in self-defense instruction that uses martial arts as a practical means of defense against an assailant in various circumstances.
According to the National Institute of Justice and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of every six American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. To date, the R.A.D. for Women course has been taught to over 900,000 women in colleges, universities and civic programs across North America.
This class is open to all female students, staff and faculty who will receive training, instruction manuals and tee shirts at no cost. Participants must attend all mandatory sessions and will then will be eligible to practice in any R.A.D. program, anywhere in the country — for free, for life.
Part One consists of a presentation on the history and foundation of R.A.D. principles.
Part Two is a training section where the moves are learned and practiced. Part Three,
which takes place on the second day, is an optional simulated full-contact exercise
where participants will use R.A.D. techniques and strategies on specially trained
instructors.
