Seton Hall University’s Alpha Mu Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES), the national scholastic honor society for students, faculty and alumni of colleges and universities with a Catholic tradition, welcomed its 2026 class of inductees during the annual DES induction ceremony.

This year’s inductees are Nancy Kajo, Anthony Haynor, Taylor Ann Lyons, Jessica Vital, Ana Emilia Ferreira, Frederick Engram Jr., Josephine DeVito and Mary Ellen Roberts.

Sponsored by the Catholic Studies Program, Seton Hall’s Alpha Mu Chapter has a distinguished history. DES has been present at Seton Hall since 1941, making the University one of the first Catholic institutions in the country to establish a chapter. After a period of dormancy, the chapter was revived by Catholic Studies in 2012, renewing a tradition that continues to recognize academic excellence, intellectual engagement, leadership and service across the University.

The 2026 induction continues that revived tradition by welcoming new members from among Seton Hall’s students and faculty. The annual ceremony reflects the interdisciplinary character of DES and the mission of Catholic Studies, which brings together students and scholars from across fields of study in conversation with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.

“Delta Epsilon Sigma is not only a recognition of academic achievement; it is also a call to intellectual community and service,” said Ines Angeli Murzaku, Ph.D., professor of religion, director of the Catholic Studies Program and founding chair of the Department of Catholic Studies. “Seton Hall’s DES chapter has deep roots, beginning in 1941. Each year, the induction of new members reminds us that this tradition is alive, growing and open to the whole University. We are proud to welcome this year’s inductees and to celebrate the excellence they bring to Seton Hall.”

Delta Epsilon Sigma recognizes students, faculty and alumni who have demonstrated outstanding academic accomplishment, dedication to intellectual activity and a commitment to service. At Seton Hall, the induction ceremony is held annually during the spring semester in coordination with the University’s Charter Day, a time when the community reflects on its history and renews its commitment to moral education.

The ceremony took place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, followed by a reception and program in the Chancellor Suite. Members, families and the University community celebrated the newest members of Seton Hall’s Alpha Mu Chapter.
