On April 16, Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business and the College of Human Development, Culture and Media (CHDCM) will host a presentation on the globalization of the sports industry led by Alex Requena, Ph.D. candidate, adjunct professor and sports consultant. The session will feature an international delegation from LaLiga, premier professional soccer league in Spain.

The event will explore key trends shaping sports on a global scale, including international market expansion, cross-border fan engagement, media and broadcasting strategies and the increasing commercial impact of major sports properties. Attendees will gain insight into how leagues like LaLiga are navigating the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly globalizing industry.

“This session offers a chance to connect academic perspectives with real-world sports experience from one of the world’s leading soccer leagues,” said Requena.

The timing of the presentation is particularly relevant with the FIFA 2026 World Cup set to take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada this summer, highlighting soccer’s growing international presence and commercial significance.

Requena brings extensive experience from working with top sports organizations including Olympique de Marseille, the NBA, Paris 2024 and the EuroLeague, providing a unique lens through which to examine the strategies driving the global sports market.

This event is open to all who are interested in sports management, international business and the future of the global sports industry. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage directly with the LaLiga delegation.
