Undergraduate Assessment

The Stillman School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB). AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, worldwide. AACSB requires ongoing and regular assessment of student learning and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The goals of the Stillman School’s curriculum are twofold: 1) to educate our students in the fundamental concepts of the disciplines of business and 2) to develop our students’ competencies/skills needed to be successful business professionals.

What does this mean for me?

In order to evaluate student learning, the School has implemented a number of processes to provide data and inform on needed curricular changes. As a Sophomore OR a Senior you will be required to participate in the Assessment Panels. This is a graduation requirement above and beyond your courses and gpa requirements.

What are the Assessment Panels?

There are 3 main components to the Assessment Panels.
1) Team Case Presentation
2) Writing Assignment
3) Analytical/Information Technology Management Assignment

During the semester in which you are called to participate in the Assessment Panels, you will be randomly assigned to a team with other business students. You will have about two months to prepare a thorough analysis of the assigned case and develop a presentation using technology. The team case presentation is evaluated by outside business professionals (assessors).

How will I learn more about this requirement?

During the semester in which you are called to participate, you will be invited to attend Preparatory Workshops and a Canvas portal will be set up. The workshops will provide detailed information on expectations, timelines and the evaluation process. A member of the Dean’s Office will also provide ongoing guidance and support to assist students through this process and provide feedback along the way.

The learning goals (competency areas) that have been integrated into the core curriculum and that we will assess include:

GOAL 1: Students will have an understanding of functional business discipline knowledge.

GOAL 2: Graduates will communicate and collaborate effectively.

GOAL 3: Graduates will understand ethical frameworks and apply them appropriately considering all impacted stakeholders and possible courses of action.

GOAL 4: Graduates will be able to use data analytics to find and gather appropriate data from various sources, organize, summarize and analyze them using the right tools to create effective information.

GOAL 5: Students will have the ability to apply critical thinking and analysis skills in complex business situations/problems.
