Seton Hall Esports Kicks Off Spring 2025 Season

Seton Hall University’s Esports program is poised for an exciting Spring 2025 season, building upon a series of remarkable
achievements from the previous year. With all four varsity teams—Rocket League, League
of Legends, Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate—set to compete in the BIG EAST
Conference, the Pirates are ready to showcase their talents on a grand stage.
Rocket League
The Rocket League (RL) team enters the season with significant momentum, having secured the Playfly College Esports Fall 2024 National Championship with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Robert Morris University. This season, the Pirates aim to defend their title and achieve a fourth consecutive BIG EAST Championship, following their victory over Butler University last year.
Rocket League TryoutsWith the departure of captain Kevin "Froze" Minch, the team is seeking new talent to maintain their championship pedigree. Aspiring players are encouraged to sign up for tryouts by Friday, January 17, 2025. Tryout dates will be determined based on submissions, so don’t miss your chance to be considered. |
The RL team will kick off the Spring 2025 season against Villanova University on Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. The full spring schedule will be released soon and will be available here once published.
League of Legends
The League of Legends (LoL) team demonstrated exceptional skill in the Fall 2024 season, advancing to the Round of Four in the inaugural Playfly College Esports Tournament. The team is determined to build upon their previous successes and compete for the conference title, aiming to surpass their performance from the last season. Key matchups against rivals such as St. John’s and DePaul are anticipated, with the BIG EAST Championship scheduled for later in the season.
LoL's first Spring 2025 season match is scheduled for Saturday, January 25 at 3 p.m. against Creighton University. The team's full spring schedule will be released soon and available here once published.
Overwatch 2
Promoted to varsity status in 2024, the Overwatch 2 team has demonstrated great potential and is determined to make a strong impression in their inaugural varsity season. Entering the BIG EAST competition for the first time, the team is driven to showcase their skills and bring home Seton Hall’s first-ever Overwatch trophy. The team’s first match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22 at 8:10 p.m. against Creighton University. Once published, the Overwatch 2 spring schedule can be viewed here.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team is ready to demonstrate their talents in another exciting season of BIG EAST competition. With a young and determined roster, they are eager to make their mark in the conference. Their season kicks off with a matchup against Butler University on Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's spring schedule can be viewed here once published.
