Showcase Your Research on a ‘BIG’ Stage! Applications Now Open for the BIG EAST Research Symposium
Monday, November 18, 2024
Continuing its focus of promoting the research excellence of our students, the Office of the Provost is pleased to invite applications to represent Seton Hall at the 2025 BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Now in its fourth year, the competition takes place the morning of the Men’s Basketball Conference Championship Game in Madison Square Garden, and brings together standout student projects from the 11 universities ranging across a variety of disciplines.
The event attracts top scholars and mentors from across the BIG EAST, creating a high-caliber program with an atmosphere of excitement and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students interested in competing academically at the highest level.
Undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited and encouraged to complete a brief application explaining their research by Monday, December 9, 2024. Priority will be given to projects that demonstrate research excellence at Seton Hall, particularly those nearing completion or previously presented at other venues.
Team members will be announced in December and receive individual and team coaching starting in January and support for overnight travel. As a bonus, participants will receive a complimentary ticket to the Men’s Basketball Conference Championship Game held that evening, where the winners will be announced and will receive medals.
This will mark the fourth year of Seton Hall’s participation in the symposium. Last year, Seton Hall’s delegation included students who had been recognized at the Petersheim Academic Exposition for their exemplary work across various fields of study, including a historic first when Jonathan Zhang, a student in the joint B.S./M.D. program, earned the Silver Medal for his research on the effects of cold plasma on wound healing.
Students can reach out to Caryn Grabowski, director of Experiential Learning at [email protected], and Sona Patel, assistant provost for Academic Excellence and Assessment, at [email protected] for additional information or questions.
