What to Pack for Seton Hall Residence Halls

Items to Remember

Items Not Permitted

  • Bed Risers/Cinder Blocks
  • LED Lights Strips or Holiday/String Lights* 
      • * “Fairy” lights with an attached battery pack are permitted.
  • Multi-bulb Lamps with Plastic Shades, Halogen Bulb Lamps, Lava Lamps, etc.
  • Cooking Appliances Including Toasters, Hot Plates, Electric Woks, Electric Skillets, Air Fryers, Rice Cookers, Broilers, Deep Fryers, Barbeques, Grills, Panini Presses, Griddles, or Any Others with a Heating Element/Open Coils
  • Candles, Incense, Fireworks, and Other Open Flame Items
  • Plug-In Air Freshener
  • Space Heaters
  • Extension Cords/Multi-plug Outlet Adaptors or Appliances with Built-In Power/Outlets/USB ports
  • Curtains/Shades/Blinds or Any Window Treatment (blinds are installed in each room)
  • Wall Decor Covering More than 25% of the Walls
  • Upholstered Furniture Larger than 2x2'.* 
      • * Gaming chairs are permitted.
      • Any upholstered furniture must meet CAL TB117-2013 fire rating.
  • Live Christmas Trees/Wreaths/Garland
  • Lithium Battery Chargers and/or Operated Vehicles Including Electric Scooters, E-Bikes, Hoverboards, etc.

Notes:

  • All Residence Halls are Air Conditioned.
  • Halogen lamps and multi blub lamps are prohibited.
  • If you plan to bring an electrical item or piece of furniture that is not on this list, please contact our office at (973)761-9172 to be sure it is permitted.

All items recommended on this page should be used with caution. The Department of Residence Life is not responsible should an item malfunction or cause damage based on user error.
