Scholarships

The Army ROTC scholarship program provides financial assistance for the education and training of highly qualified and motivated young men and women who desire to be commission as officers in the Army after graduation from college. For more information about each scholarship:

Scholarships pay:

  • 100% tuition and mandatory fees
  • $1200 per academic year book allowance
  • $420 per month stipend (during school year)

A stipend based on academic status:

  • $300/month – Freshman
  • $350/month – Sophomore
  • $450/month – Junior
  • $500/month – Senior

Four and three year scholarships are available to high school students.

General Eligibility Requirements

For an ROTC scholarship, you must generally:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26
  • Possess a high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be medically qualified through DODMERB
  • Be able to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test

Obligations of Scholarship Recipients:

A total of 8 years of military service upon college graduation which may be satisfied in any of the following ways:

  • Serve 4 years on Active Duty, plus 4 years on Reserve Duty (active Army Reserve or Army National Guard or Inactive Ready Reserve)
  • Serve more than 4 years on active duty plus whatever remains of the 8 year obligation on Reserve Forces Duty or Inactive Ready Reserve.
  • Serve all 8 years on Active Duty.
  • Serve all 6 years on Reserve Forces Duty and 2 years of Inactive Ready Reserve (for individuals that receive a Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty scholarship or are assigned to the Army Reserve or Army National Guard when commissioned).

Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) and Dedicated Army National Guard (ARNG) Scholarships

The GRFD and Dedicated ARNG Scholarships are 2-year scholarships available for anyone who desires to become an officer in the Army Reserve (AR) and Army National Guard (ARNG). Applicants must be members of the AR or ARNG and participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) as a cadet. Both scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Students apply for this scholarship during the spring semester of their sophomore year. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a junior with 4 to 5 semesters remaining until graduation.

Non-Scholarship Benefits

Students can participate in ROTC without a scholarship and will receive the ROTC stipend benefits during their junior year once contracted. If a member of the Army Reserve or Army National Guard, these students are required to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), which will entitle them to receive additional financial benefits through the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while completing their degree program as an Army ROTC cadet.
