Banner SaaS Migration Reaches New Milestone
Tuesday, March 3, 2026
Seton Hall University continues to make meaningful progress on the Banner SaaS migration, a multi-year initiative to modernize the University’s enterprise resource planning
(ERP) system and transition it to a secure, cloud-based environment. Banner supports
essential campus functions, including student records, registration, financial aid,
human resources and finance, making it central to the University’s daily operations.
With a July 2027 go-live on schedule and the project 21 percent complete, the University has reached an important milestone, moving from initial planning and system configuration into active testing. During this phase, project teams are validating processes, integrations and automated workflows to confirm they operate effectively in the new SaaS environment, while identifying refinements and making thoughtful adjustments early to strengthen the foundation for a stable and sustainable implementation.
A Temporary Pause on New Projects
Effective February 9, 2026, the University implemented a temporary moratorium on most new projects and enhancements involving its core administrative systems. The pause applies to major system changes, workflow redesign, integrations and reporting expansions across enterprise platforms such as Banner and related systems. Academic and instructional technology initiatives are not affected and faculty should continue working with the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center's Instructional Designers to advance teaching and learning projects. Critical compliance, regulatory, security and operational support continues uninterrupted, and essential maintenance and system stability work remain ongoing.
As systems are prepared for transition to the SaaS environment, limiting additional changes reduces risk during testing and data migration while keeping teams focused on delivering a stable cloud implementation. "This temporary pause supports institutional alignment and long-term stewardship," said Paul Fisher, Chief Information Officer. "During a transformation of this scale, focus is essential. By narrowing new development now, we are ensuring that our resources are dedicated to building a strong, modern foundation that will support Seton Hall for years to come."
The moratorium will remain in effect through August 2027 to allow for post–go-live stabilization. However, IT Planning and Communication will continue to review new requests submitted through the IT Project Request Form, and departments are encouraged to submit requests during this time. All submissions will be evaluated through established governance processes and placed in a prioritized backlog so they can be thoughtfully sequenced and work can resume efficiently once the moratorium is lifted.
Looking Ahead
The Banner SaaS migration represents a foundational investment in Seton Hall’s future. By modernizing the systems that support students, faculty and staff, the University is strengthening operational consistency, improving long-term sustainability and preparing for continued innovation.
The Digital Transformation Committee will continue to share updates as the University advances toward its 2027 launch.
