Expenses and Financial Aid

All students studying abroad for a semester, full academic year, or summer are still required to pay the following university fees:

Faculty Led Programs

Seton Hall offers Spring Embedded and Summer Abroad Programs, allowing students to travel abroad with a faculty member and peers for 1 to 4 weeks.
Spring Embedded Programs: Travel during spring break or after finals, connected to a spring semester course. No additional tuition is required if taking 18 credits or less. Program fees cover travel costs included in the program. Scholarships and aid apply if within the 12-18 credit flat tuition rate.
Summer Abroad Programs: Taught on-location abroad, often in collaboration with a local university or host family. Requires additional tuition and a program fee. Students receive a 25-50% tuition discount, but Seton Hall scholarships generally do not apply. The Seton Hall Summer Scholarship cannot be used.
Summer Fees: Students must pay the University fee. Housing fees are determined by the host program or university.

Semester Programs

For semester or year-long programs with partner universities, students continue to pay tuition through Seton Hall, maintaining their existing tuition rate and scholarships. Tuition is paid via PirateNet. To receive a bill, students must submit a completed Credit Transfer Sheet and be registered for the Study Abroad Placement course to maintain full-time status.
Semester Fees: Students are required to pay the University fee and Technology fee. If taking a University laptop, the Mobile Computing Fee applies, unless the fee has been paid for four semesters. Students not bringing their University laptop must return it to the Mobile Computing Office if they are still paying the fee.

Third-Party Programs

Students studying through third-party programs must still pay Seton Hall's University and Technology fees. All other program, tuition, and housing fees are paid directly to the third-party provider. Housing fees are determined by the host program or university. Students should consult with the third-party provider for scholarship opportunities. Seton Hall financial aid and scholarships do not apply for third-party programs.

Pre-Departure Expenses

Students should budget for additional pre-departure costs, which may need to be paid before scholarships or financial aid are disbursed:
Passports: Must be valid for at least six months after the program ends. Click here for more information.
Application Fees and Deposits: Seton Hall does not charge an application fee, but third-party providers may. Seton Hall programs require a non-refundable deposit that goes towards the cost of the overall program fee. Some providers require a non-refundable deposit.
Visa and Consular Fees: Some countries require a visa, which may involve an in-person consulate visit. Contact your provider or host institution for details.
